It has turned into a family effort.
This morning I suggested to Aid that he talk with his brother and teach him how to sleep in his own bed. I overheard this conversation:
Aid: Grant, come over and sit on your bed. I want to talk to you.
Grant: Ok, Aid.
Aid: Grant, look at me when I'm talking to you. I want to show you how to sleep in your bed. Look, you get your stuffy (in which case for Grant is currently his baby triceratops) and you cuddle him up like this. Then you put your pillow like this. Then you close your eyes. It's easy. Are you listening to me?
Grant: Yeah, but it's scary. Shadows are scary. And Aid, look, Grandma gave me my teracops.
Aid: Yeah, I know she did. I got three, and you got one. (Really they were supposed to each get two, but Aid talked Grant into giving him an extra one and no amount of convincing would change his mind) but it's ok. Mom and Dad will keep you safe. It's their job. They told me. And then you get your present!
Grant: Ok, Aid, I'll try.
I love these two.
If you have any hints or tricks please let me know. Brynn will only fall asleep if we are laying next to her or on the floor in the living room. And then she always wakes up in the middle of the night and crawls into bed with us. We're going on 3+ months of (unsuccessfully) trying to train her. It's so frustrating!!! It's so sad, she used to be a great sleeper. I wish you luck Karen and feel your pain!
ReplyDeleteAmanda...I think we have decided to go Supernanny on his ass. lol. I say that with all the love I have. But it's enough. He used to sleep good too. But we're going on.....6-8 months of him crawling in half way through the night. It was ok and sweet at first. Now, it's horrible. So we are just going to walk him back and then leave. No extra singing, no sleeping by his bed...
ReplyDeleteOh for goodness sakes, that is ADORABLE!!! And Jeff and I usually end up in the kids' beds so if you could send Aid over here for "the talk" that would be lovely! ;)
